Keiki Program

The Kilohana Keiki practice on  Mondays and Wednesdays at 5:30 pm at the Quarry Lakes site in Fremont.

We’re happy to see some of our keiki have been taking advantage of Saturday morning practices in Redwood City. By all means, continue coming out, and with the warm weather coming up, hopefully we’ll see more of you.

This season promises to be yet another successful season and we have some exciting challenges in store for our new and returning keiki this year:

  • Look for more time on our V-1’s and having more of you participate in V-1 racing.
  • Kilohana has some of the top keiki paddlers participating in the sprint season – down to our youngest crews! We look forward to being just as successful this season, so look forward to some new drills to make your practices fun and tough!
  • As well, Kilohana is well known for putting the best keiki steers people on the water, so, all of you should expect to have more time sitting in seat 6!
  • The Kilohana Board of Directors and coaches are excited to be considering a Hawaii race for the club to participate in – as well as our Keiki. The Queen Liliuokalani Race, billed as the largest outrigger canoe race, looks to be in the works. More information will be provided at the upcoming practices.

In the meantime, we’re excited to be getting back on the water with you all too! We’ll have a few new faces to help with our coaching staff, and if I’m not mistaken, maybe even an additional canoe. Please feel free to spread the word and invite your friends and family who would like to try outrigger paddling. With many schools cutting back on athletics, Kilohana could be a great alternative for social and physical activity … so tell a friend!

Mahalo and looking forward to the 2011 season!
